The San Diego Padres are starting to make some moves.

In a surprise addition, the team re-acquired Chase Headley from the New York Yankees on Tuesday.

The deal sends Jabari Blash to New York and also brings Bryan Mitchell to the Padres. Mitchell is a relief pitcher with a decent arm who the Padres plan to turn back into a starting pitcher. The Padres will eat all of Headley’s $13 million dollar contract for the 2018 season.

Immediately, Padres Twitter went bonkers.

We are here to tell you that the deal was not that bad. Listen to the podcast and hear us out. Headley’s numbers are not that bad, and who is to say he will remain on the roster.

Ryan Schimpf was also dealt to make room on the 40-man roster. The infielder was shipped to Tampa for a shortstop by the name of Deion Tansel. He has not made it past the low minor leagues and gives the team further depth for the system. Nothing really special to see here.

We end up talking about Eric Hosmer. The Padres are still reportedly in discussions with him and still have an outside chance to sign him. We discuss his value and the fact his contract could be death to the Friars. We also look into Carlos Santana‘s numbers and compare them to Hosmer’s.

We end the show with some quick questions in which we talk about further potential deals for the team.

The Cubs and Padres have recently started talking about a shortstop and we weigh in on this topic.
