Here is a recap of the day’s events.

El Paso Chihuahuas (Lost 9-1) (32-45)

Brian O’Grady– 2-for-3, 1 BB, 1 K

Luke Westphal– 2.1 IP, 4 H, 7 R, 5 ER, 3 K, 1 BB

Nabil Crismatt– 1.2 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 3 K

A poor start from Luke Westphal put the El Paso Chihuahuas in too big of a hole to come from behind in their 9-1 loss to the Sacramento River Cats. Despite only putting up one run, the Chihuahuas put up seven hits and featured a couple of nice hitting performances. Brian O’Grady and Nick Tanielu each notched a double on their two-hit nights.

Kyle McGrath will start for the Chihuahuas on Friday.

San Antonio Missions (Lost 7-5) (38-42)

Eguy Rosario– 2-for-5, 1 RBI, 1 K

Adrian Martinez– 5 IP, 4 H, 3 ER, 3 BB, 6 K

Joe Beimel– 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 1 K

The San Antonio Missions lost in extra innings to the Corpus Christi Hooks, 7-5. San Antonio got out an early 4-0 lead after Michael Curry hit a 3-run home run in the second inning. Curry added another RBI in the sixth inning to tie the game at five. In the fifth inning, Adrian Martinez finally showed that he is human when he allowed three runs. His ERA on the year is now 2.41. James Reeves pitched two innings and recorded every out with a strikeout. However, he did allow a two-run home run in the sixth inning that momentarily gave the Hooks the lead. When the game got to extra innings, San Antonio failed to match Corpus Christi’s two runs.

Matt Waldron will start for the Missions on Friday.

Fort Wayne TinCaps (Lost 5-1) (37-44)

Reinaldo Ilarraza– 2-for-4

Chris Givin– 2-for-3, 1 BB, 1 K

Noel Vela– 4 IP, 4 ER, 7 H, 4 K, 1 BB

Wen-Hua Sung– 1 IP, 0 R, 0 H, 2 K

The Fort Wayne TinCaps tallied nine hits Thursday but only got across one run in their 5-1 loss to the Great Lakes Loons. Three TinCaps hitters notched multiple hits, but neither of the three were able to string together hits to score any runs. The only run for Fort Wayne came on a Tyler Malone solo home run. Runs for the Loons in just the third, fourth, and fifth innings were enough to hand the TinCaps the loss.

Carlos Guarate will start for Fort Wayne on Friday.

Lake Elsinore Storm (Postponed) (35-45)

Thursday’s contest for the Lake Elsinore Storm was postponed due to a COVID-19 outbreak within the Storm. If they play on Friday, there is no starter announced.

Joshua Paulina– 3 IP, 7 H, 7 R, 2 ER, 1 BB, 5 K

The ACL Padres dropped Thursday’s game to the ACL Giants despite a solid comeback in the seventh inning, 9-5. James Wood got the Padres out to an early lead in the first inning with a two-out double. They didn’t score until the last inning. Things fell apart for the pitching staff as they allowed nine runs in just six innings. However, the defense behind them did not supply much help with three errors.

The ACL Padres will play the ACL White Sox Friday. There are no scheduled pitchers for that contest yet.

Dominican Summer League Padres (Won 3-2) (12-5)

Victor Acosta– 1-for-2, 1 R, 1 BB

Elvis Saba– 5 IP, 3 H, 2 ER, 0 BB, 6 K

Greiber Lopez– 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 K

The DSL Padres only notched three hits Thursday, but the three hits were enough to back up a strong outing from Elvis Saba in a 3-2 win over the DSL Diamondbacks. Adrain Perez got the Padres out to an early lead with a home run in the second inning. However, the Diamondbacks immediately responded with a two-run home run to take the lead. in the sixth inn, Daniel Montesino doubled home Jose Cordero and Victor Acosta to put the padres in front for good.

The DSL Padres will once again face the DSL Diamondbacks on Friday. There are no scheduled pitchers for that contest yet.
