A report came out Wednesday morning that Oregon defensive lineman Deforest Buckner is San Diego and visiting the Chargers team facilities. He is one of the possible players the Chargers are looking at selecting with their third pick in the upcoming NFL draft.

Buckner is an ultra athletic player and will likely be selected very early in the first round. The Chargers need lineman help on the defensive side of the ball and Buckner would be a huge upgrade and probably an instant starter.

Last year the 6′ 7″ lineman had 10.5 sacks and an amazing 83 tackles in his senior year at Oregon. 17 of those tackles were for loss. Very impressive that the lineman pursues the ball even on running plays and should be an every down player at the next level. More often than not players in the current era are one-dimensional. Buckner appears to have many different skill sets. He should be a very useful player for someone.

It is unclear if the Chargers are content with the third pick in the draft. There are rumors that the team might be interested in trading the early first round pick for multiple picks. Nobody really knows for sure. I am sure Tom Telesco is going through all scenarios in an attempt to get the most bang for your buck.

Buckner would be a nice pick for the team, but they could also be interested in Jalen Ramsey. The defensive back out of Florida State is viewed as the best player in the draft but it is not clear if the Titans will select him. There are many different variables to whom the Chargers will select with their first round pick. Draft day and the week leading up to it should be very interesting. Stay tuned Chargers fans.
