The biggest news from last night’s Tijuana Xolos game against Correcaminos UAT was not the 2-1 scoreline, but rather an incident that occurred in the 88th minute of the game.

A clash between Correcaminos’ Eduardo Juarez and Tijuana’s Yasser Corona resulted in a convulsion for Corona which led him to the emergency room at the Hospital Angeles in Tijuana.

Shortly after the game Miguel Herrera did confirm that the center-back was conscious when boarding the ambulance. Later that night it was also conformed that the injury was not life-threatening.

Now early morning, it was confirmed that Yasser Corona suffered cervical damage and broken vertebratae.

Yasser Corona is now undergoing surgery, and hopefully everything goes well for the Xolos defender.

Corona contributed to the scoreline last night, delivering the second goal of the game for Miguel Herrera’s side.

The fans showed support for the fallen player, immediately chanting his name when the ambulance took off with him.

Fans have also showed their support on twitter, with the hashtag, #FuerzaYasser.

Corona was a not a starter for the Xolos Liga MX matches, but was featured in their Copa MX games and is one of the key men that Miguel Herrera relies on coming off the bench.

Ironically, Corona did save an opposing player’s life from a convulsion in a preseason friendly match between Xolos and Atlas F.C. at Mesa College in San Diego on Dec. 28, 2017. Fuerza Tijuas and Fuerza Yasser!
