The Liga MX Femenil is dwindling down to its last few games now in Week 13. The Xolos’ women’s team will play their last home game of the Clausura 2018 this Monday.
Xolos Femenil will play Cruz Azul at the Estadio Caliente in a matchup that should be highly entertaining. Both teams don’t have a chance of making the playoffs, but should still be motivated to get the win.
Andrea Rodebaugh’s team is currently on a three-game losing streak and suffered a 3-0 loss to Club America in its last game. The Club Tijuana ladies’ defense has been struggling recently with 10 goals conceded in this three-game dry spell. The Xolos’ attack has also only scored two goals in their last four games and needs to turn it around in this match.
Andrea Rodebaugh seems to have a set team in place and it is unlikely that she will experiment with her starting XI. The goal is now for these players to keep on progressing and getting minutes heading into next season for Xolos Femenil to be successful. Some of the standouts so far from the team include Rosa Aguiar, Arlina Montes, and Valentina Oviedo. Goalkeeper Itzel Gonzalez has struggled in recent games, but has had a very successful season so far, being an important asset to this team in certain matchups.
The Club Tijuana ladies are currently seventh in Group 1 of the Liga MX Femenil with six points and could use a win to improve on the standings. Cruz Azul is not far ahead of Xolos Femenil, currently sixth in Group 1 with eight points, adding importance to this clash at the Estadio Caliente.
The team from Mexico City are on a five-game losing streak and have been outscored 14-1 by their opponents in this string of losses. Las Cementeras’ offense is the worst in the league with only six goals in 12 games and should struggle in this tough away match. The defense is also not great and this team will need to endure a lot of changes to be successful next season.
Earlier in the season, Cruz Azul defeated Xolos Femenil 1-0 with a goal by Silvia Lopez, but it is hard to imagine a similar outcome in this matchup. The Club Tijuana ladies have looked decent at home and will be motivated to pick up a win for the home crowd in the last game at the Estadio Caliente this season.
