Xolos Femenil 2018 Apertura: Club Tijuana Ladies Host Last Place Cruz Azul
Game: Xolos Femenil vs Cruz Azul Femenil
When: Monday, Aug. 27, 2018
Where: Estadio Caliente, Tijuana, Mexico
Time: 7:00 P.M. PST
Xolos Femenil are currently on a three-game losing streak coming from a disappointing 2-1 loss against Toluca at home.
The Club Tijuana ladies had a 1-0 lead against Las Diablas and ended up blowing it even though Toluca only had 10 players on the field for most of the second half.
The border city team has wins against Pachuca and Pumas UNAM at home and losses versus Toluca and Club America. Andrea Rodebaugh’s players seem to be having trouble closing games out games as the Xolos’ last two losses have come from goals conceded in the last 15 minutes.
The Club Tijuana ladies are currently fifth in Group 1 of the Liga MX Femenil with seven points. The Xolos are just two points out of a playoff spot and really need to get out of this bad form. Inglis Hernandez did score in that loss to Toluca and now has four goals in the 2018 Apertura, which is her best tally ever.
Goalkeeper Itzel Gonzalez also had a few crucial saves against Toluca and continues to be one of the standouts from the team.
Cruz Azul is dead last in the Liga MX Femenil with just one point and has had the second-worst defense in the league with 14 goals allowed. Las Cementeras have been shut out in their last three games and should be due for a very complicated game on the synthetic grass of the Mictlan.
The game should be one that Xolos Femenil can win, especially with the home-field advantage. EVT predicts a 2-0 win for the Club Tijuana ladies as Cruz Azul has proven to be a very weak team this season.
