The Tijuana Xolos have been very active in the current transfer window as Vladimir Lorona was officially announced as Club Tijuana’s 10th signing ahead of the 2019 Apertura tournament. Manager Oscar Pareja did not have enough time to build his team last season but is clearly having an influence this season.

Lorona is coming over from Puebla, where he played over the past two Liga MX seasons. The young defender made his Liga MX debut in the 2018 Apertura tournament, but quickly became a consistent starter for La Franja.

Lorona was given his Liga MX debut by historic Mexican manager Enrique Meza and then was a regular under Meza and then Jose Luis Sanchez Sola at Puebla. The 20-year-old fullback has a lot of qualities that make him a complete right-back as he is quick, physical, and also has decent offensive capabilities.

Lorona is a player that leaves all of his effort on the pitch as he goes up and down the field during any match. The Sonora native is already a hot prospect for the Mexico national team as he has participated with El Tri at the youth levels.

Lorona is set to play in the Pan American Games in Peru for Mexico in late July and early August as he may not make his debut for Xolos until Week 7 of the tournament. Still, Lorona is a very young player with plenty of potential and is definitely an upgrade at right-back offensively to Omar Mendoza.

The 20-year-old allows Oscar Pareja to play a more offensive style of play when he needs to due to his speed and offensive presence. Lorona is also a good investment for the Tijuana Xolos as there is not an excess of talented Mexican right-backs and he is already under the Mexico national team radar.
