Tijuana Xolos: Rubio Rubin Makes Move To Affiliate Team Dorados de Sinaloa

This Thursday, Dec. 27, 2018, Dorados de Sinaloa officially announced the signing of Rubio Rubin from the Tijuana Xolos.
Dorados play in Mexico’s second-tier league the Ascenso MX and are affiliated with the Tijuana Xolos as they share the same ownership.
Rubin joined Xolos at the beginning of the year in the 2018 Clausura season but struggled to get consistent playing time. The 22-year-old forward played in just 14 total Liga MX games in two seasons and started in just three, including one this past season.
Rubin also started in three Copa MX games this past season and managed to score just one goal in his tenure with the Tijuana Xolos. That lone goal came in Week 15 of the 2018 Clausura tournament in Club Tijuana’s 3-0 win against Chivas de Guadalajara at the Estadio Caliente.
The Oregon native did not receive enough playing time to show his worth for the Xoloitzcuintles, but can still gain plenty of experience in this spell with Dorados de Sinaloa. Rubin has plenty of potential as he has already played in Europe and with the United States national team as well.
The American forward is also versatile as he can play as a striker or on the wings and should be able to slot in Dorados’ starting lineup. Rubin will be coached by the legendary Diego Armando Maradona and will be joining one of the best teams in Mexico’s second division.

The team from Culiacan reached the Ascenso MX final, but lost to Atletico San Luis and will now look to fight for the title once again. Dorados also has several former Xolos’ players on its roster like Fernando Arce Jr., Jesus Chavez, Jesus Escoboza and Jose Alberto Garcia.
