The Tijuana Xolos lost 4-0 to Pachuca in Week 10 of the Liga MX 2019 Clausura season.

The loss was Club Tijuana’s worst performance in the tournament and a reality-check for manager Oscar Pareja.

The Xoloitzcuintles had been undefeated in their previous eight games in all competitions before this defeat. The border city side was riding high, but hit rock bottom in the match against Pachuca as the cruel inconsistency and competitiveness of the Liga MX were showcased in this clash.

The Xolos were living a tremendous moment heading into this game, while Pachuca was coming off a horrendous 3-0 loss to Tigres UANL. The Xolos should not have lost this game by such a large margin and a lot of people would argue that they should have even won the game.

Everything was perfect for the Border City Dogs before this encounter, especially defensively as the backline was playing at its peak. However, this loss showcased what can happen when everything goes wrong for Oscar Pareja’s team.

The attack was also dormant in the clash as Miller Bolanos, Gustavo Bou and Ariel Nahuelpan were stumped by Pachuca. Key injuries to Omar Mendoza and Fabian Castillo are clearly hurting the team, which also played its role in this past result.

Club Tijuana is currently in sixth place with 16 points as just three points separate the Xoloitzcuintles from 12th place Lobos BUAP.

This is the highest level of competition that Oscar Pareja has coached in and this was a reality check to the Colombian manager and the Tijuana Xolos at this stage of the season.
