Tijuana Xolos: All-Time Xolos’ Liga MX Goalscorer Dayro Moreno Could Make Return
Oscar Pareja is now the new Xolos manager, and with him comes some inevitable departures and additions to Club Tijuana.
The area where the Aztec Canines clearly need help is in the attack, as Juan Martin Lucero and Erick Torres combined for just two goals in the 2018 Apertura Liga MX season.
The Xoloitzcuintles scored just 13 goals as a team, which was second-worst in the league and fewer than Liga MX top goalscorer Andre-Pierre Gignac, who scored 14 goals this semester. The Colombian manager clearly needs to address this problem and has already spoken about a possible acquisition that could be made this upcoming transfer window.
Pareja spoke about the topic to two different Colombian sports radio shows,Ā El AlargueĀ onĀ Caracol Radio and ColombiaSports.net, and did confirm that the team is considering Dayro Moreno. The 33-year-old striker last played with Club Tijuana in 2016 and most recently played with Atletico Nacional before being separated by the Colombian giants for disciplinary issues.
Moreno first played with the Border City Dogs in 2011, then again from 2014-2016 as he quickly became an iconic player for the Xoloitzcuintles. The South American forward is the Xolos’ all-time goalscorer in Mexico’s top-flight league with 46 goals in the Liga MX for Club Tijuana.
The Colombian striker has undeniable talent and a deadly finishing ability that can still help several Liga MX, even at 33 years old.
However, not everything can be perfect and Moreno has his baggage, which is his temperament and attitude that can get the best of him.

Moreno scored 34 goals with Atletico Nacional from 2017-2018, before being separated by the club, but can now redeem himself at his old home. The recent appointment of Oscar Pareja has already been heavily criticized because of his past in MLS, but signing Dayro Moreno would definitely earn Pareja some points with the Xolos’ fanbase and could also really help the border city side.
