Tijuana Xolos

Alejandro Guido was separated from the Tijuana Xolos before the start of this season with no official statement from the club, and not much information about the move.

Just like he left Club Tijuana, without much noise, it was recently discovered that Guido is on trial with MLS team LAFC.

Guido was said to be in LAFC’s lineup in a preseason game, and the club had not announced anything about his incorporation. The Chula Vista native had played with Club Tijuana since 2012 and his Liga MX debut came in 2014 against Chivas de Guadalajara.

Guido was clearly a talented player in the midfield, but injuries kept on persistently pursuing him, which limited his role with the Aztec Canines.

In a game against Veracruz in the 2018 Clausura tournament, he even suffered from panic and anxiety attacks, and his playing time was even more limited with the Border City Dogs since that incident.

Guido was a well-liked player among his teammates at Club Tijuana and was especially liked by fans across the border from Tijuana. The Chula Vista native never scored a goal in Liga MX play, but did score two in the 2015 Clausura edition of the Copa MX with the Xoloitzcuintles.

Guido is not guaranteed a spot with LAFC next season as he is currently on trial and could be another former Xolos’ player in MLS. There are several former Xolos’ players playing in the United States, including Paul Arriola, Greg Garza, Edgar Castillo, and Hector Villalba. Guido clearly has the talent to succeed and this could prove to be the move he needs to progress in his still young career.
