From the basketball courts in Barrio Logan to the well-groomed fields in Del Mar to the turf and boards of Pechanga Arena, the beautiful game of soccer is a massive part of our beautiful city.

Whether it be a busy weekend in July when Albion Cup (one of the biggest youth club tournaments in the country takes place) or a Wednesday night under the lights at picturesque Torero Stadium (where the San Diego Loyal compete in the USL (United Soccer League), soccer is a part of the lifeblood of this city.

Past, present, and future are cresting like a perfect wave before our eyes to create the country’s best soccer market in America’s Finest City.

Two things have always been true about sports fans in San Diego: They love to have a good time at games and are extremely loyal to their teams.

Soccer supporters exemplify these truths, at times to extremes.

Whether it be tailgating before a big match or intentionally convening farther away than necessary from the stadium, solely for the purpose of singing and marching into the match, singing loudly for all to hear entering the stadium, soccer supporters are there for a good time and to push on their club to win. With four professional teams in play, 2022 is set to be the most exciting time yet to become a supporter of the beautiful game in San Diego.

If you would like to support what is certainly the most storied sports franchise in the city’s history (and likely the most decorated professional soccer team in the country, indoors or out), the Sockers, who just dropped banner number 15 on December 18, are at your service.

If you’re looking for something fresh that has a background with the county’s extensive youth soccer pyramid, you can go watch Albion San Diego play in NISA’s (National Independent Soccer Association) split 2022 spring and fall seasons.

Looking for something new, but want to see some faces that you’ve seen in the Olympics or a World Cup? The San Diego Wave Fútbol Club is kicking off their inaugural season in 2022, with what looks to be a stacked roster.

Last but certainly not least, if you fancy a club that’s led by the greatest United States greatest men’s player, look no further than San Diego Loyal SC, who are looking to build on a fantastic 2021 campaign and fight to add a star above their crest as USL Champions.

The history echoing in the rafters of Pechanga Arena, and the future magic to be held within the confines of Torero Stadium, Buccaneer Stadium at Mission Bay High School, Snapdragon Stadium, and the impending Oceanside Arena, all beg the question.

Will you lend your voice to help lead these teams and the city to victory?
