Sean Lewis primed to be next head coach for SDSU football
The Brady Hoke era has officially ended.
After years of sub-par play on the field, the SDSU football program has decided to make a change that will seriously affect the culture of this program.
Confirmed to East Village Times, Sean Lewis will take over as head coach for the San Diego State Aztecs.

Just like the Men’s basketball team, SDSU football has thrived on the defensive side of the ball. Now, the team has decided to go in a different direction by targeting an offensive-minded coach in Sean Lewis.
Lewis was hired by Deion Sanders to be the co-offensive coordinator for the Colorado Buffaloes for the 2023 season. The hype was there in Boulder for the first three weeks of the season as Primetime led the Buffaloes to a 3-0 record, taking down the reigning NCAA runner-ups in the TCU Horned Frogs.
That opening game against TCU was a special one for Colorado and Lewis as the offense scored 45 points, which was their highest-scoring total of the entire season. Shedeur Sanders inserted his name into the conversation as one of the top college quarterbacks in the country, and he seriously thrived under Lewis’s offensive scheme.
However, the talent that SDSU will have at the QB position next season won’t be nearly as talented as what Sanders brings to the table, but if you paid any attention to the Buffaloes this year, then you saw some electric offensive play.

The Aztecs are going to transition from a defensive-minded program to an offensive one, and that should really excite the fanbase.
Scoring points has been a struggle the last few years for this football program but that should quickly change once Lewis gets comfortable with his new staff and squad.
Fans want to see touchdowns and points scored because that is what makes the game entertaining to watch in person. This hire should help fill out seats in the beautiful Snapdragon Stadium.
Prior to his hire as OC with Sanders, Lewis had a (24-31) record as the Kent State head coach from 2018-22. Lewis also served as the OC/QB coach for Syracuse from 2016-17. The new head coach led the Golden Flashes to their first-ever bowl win in 2019 in the Frisco Bowl.
After eight games this season, Sanders stripped the play-calling duties from Lewis. As a result, Colorado reached 20 points just once in their final four games.
The hire has not yet been made official by the university.
