The San Diego Loyal will close out a three-game road trip this Saturday, June 3, as they take on San Antonio FC at Toyota Field.

The Loyal has a win and a loss on this road trip, coming off a rough 2-0 loss against Oakland Roots at Weidner Field.

Spanish goalkeeper, Koke Vegas suffered an injury as 16-year-old Duran Michael Ferree started the game against Oakland. Coach Nate Miller decided to go with Joe Corona on the bench against the Roots, as it is unlikely that the San Diego native will start on the bench in this match. San Diego did not play a bad game against the bay area team but lacked in the finishing department and were a bit unlucky as Roots’ goalkeeper Paul Blanchette finished the match with five saves, which all came from inside of the box.

Before the loss against Oakland, San Diego enjoyed a very nice 3-2 come-from-behind win against Miami FC at FIU Stadium. Elliot Collier scored the late game-winner in that match to secure the three points in South Florida and net his first goal as a member of the San Diego Loyal.

Nate Miller has not been shy of making changes to his lineup throughout the season, and after some offensive issues against Oakland, it would not be surprising to see some changes to his 11 in San Antonio. It will also be very interesting to see if Duran Michael Ferree makes another start or if newly signed Alan Solorio gets an opportunity to make the most of his 25-day loan.

San Antonio FC has had a fantastic season, currently second in the USL Western Conference with 22 points. The Texas-based team only has one loss in its last five games and is coming off a 2-1 win against New Mexico United at home.

There have been several players contributing to San Antonio’s season, but one of the players that has greatly contributed recently is Nigerian forward Tani Oluwaseyi, who has four goals and two assists in just four games played. Oluwaseyi was recently signed on a loan deal by San Antonio from Minnesota United, and he has been making the most of this opportunity.

Lamar Batista has also been a notable player for the Texas team, with two goals and two assists, playing as a defender. San Antonio has a very complete squad, and this is set to be a very tough match for the Loyal, who have the potential to finish in second place in the Western Conference with a win in this match.
