Padres Winter League Report: November 8 & 9 (Franmil Reyes Heating up in D.R.)
Thursday was a slow day around the globe, so both Thursday and Friday’s report were combined.

Thursday, November 8, 2018
Arizona Fall League
No Games Scheduled
Mexican winter league
No Padres’ player in action
Venezuelan winter league
Edward Olivares– (0-4) K
Olivares was down to .347 on the year after taking a 0-for on Thursday. He was playing center field and batting leadoff.
Dominican winter league
Franmil Reyes– (2-4) Run, Assist
After Thursday’s game, Reyes was at .333 for the year in the D.R.

Arizona Fall League
Hudson Potts– (1-2) RBI, Run, 2 BB, picked off, K
Potts is at .235 on the year after a 1-for-2 game on Saturday.
Buddy Reed– (1-3) 2B, RBI, BB, K
The speedy center fielder is now at .367 for the year in the AFL.
Dauris Valdez– 1 IP, 3 H, 2 ER, 3 K
The power pitcher from the D.R. struck out the side on Friday, but allowed two runs to score on three hits. His 5.00 ERA is not impressive as he continues to give up runs despite a very high K ratio.

Dominican winter league
Franmil Reyes– (3-5) 2 K
The big slugger is at .375 for the year after recording three hits in five at-bats on Friday. He was batting cleanup and served as the team’s DH in the contest.
Diego Goris– (1-5) 2B, RBI
The veteran minor leaguer is at .269 for the year in the Dominican Republic after a 1-for-5 game on Friday. He was playing third base and has not had many starts in recent weeks.
Eric Yardley– 1 IP
The sidewinder continues to be very impressive in the D.R. He owns a 0.79 ERA and could be an interesting player to watch this spring in major league camp.
Jonathan Aro– 1 IP, K
The right-handed reliever has a 6.75 ERA so far in the D.R.
Venezuelan winter league
Edward Olivares– (3-4) 2B, Run, 2 RBI, BB, K
Olivares had a nice game on Friday as he went 3-for-4 with two RBI. His batting average is up to .368 now on the year in Venezuela.
Gabriel Arias– (0-1)
Arias is starting to play sporadically in Venezuela. He is hitting .286 after coming in late in the game as a defensive replacement.
Mexican winter league
Gerardo Reyes– 1 IP, 2 K
The Mexican power pitcher is still flawless as he has a 0.00 ERA in his first 15 appearances.
