Here is your EVT San Diego Padres EVT winter league report for November 29.

There are several men in action throughout the globe for the San Diego Padres.

Here is a recap from Friday’s action.

Dominican Winter League

Ivan Castillo– (3-6)

The switch-hitter is up to .259 on the season after a plodding start. Castillo has an outside chance to factor in the Padres’ second base battle. He batted second in the game and stole his 5th base of the season. He also committed his 10th error of the season in the game. Castillo has played all over the infield for the Leones de Escogido.

Webster Rivas– (0-3)

The backup catcher is hitting .136 on the year for the Gigantes de Cibao in the D.R. Rivas is not known for his offense, but is a very well-respected defensive guru behind the plate. The right-handed hitter will have a hard time earning playing time in the Padres crowded system in terms of catchers.

Puerto Rican Winter League

Michael Gettys– (0-2) Run, BB

The offensively-gifted outfielder was in right for the Indios de Mayaguez on Friday. He is off to a .194 start on the year in Puerto Rico. There are still some strikeout issues with Gettys, who was left unprotected in the Rule-5 draft. There is some power potential, but he has always displayed plate discipline problems.

Mexican Winter League

No players in action

Australian Baseball League

Jonny Homza– (1-6) 2 K

The converted catcher is hitting .167 on the year for the Auckland Tuatara. He has played on most days for the team and is swinging a lot better than his statistics indicate. The right-handed hitter needs work behind the plate, and this time in the ABL will be useful to his development. He played third base in game two of a doubleheader on Friday.

Jarryd Dale– (1-4) K

The Padres have received very little offense from Dale since he was signed out of Australia. The shortstop has a .056 batting average so far for the Melbourne Aces.

Jordy Barley– (1-4) Run, 2 K

The infielder is playing for the Canberra Cavalry and is being utilized all over the infield. The right-handed hitter has improved his swing and looks like he may have turned the corner with his production. Barley is hitting .269 so far the ABL season.

Taylor Kohlwey– (0-3) 2 K

Left-handed hitting outfielder Taylor Kohlwey batted fourth and played centerfield for the Cavalry on Friday. Kohlwey is batting .158 so far this season.
