Peoria is gearing up for their championship game, which is scheduled for Saturday.

A few other Padres players made their debut on Friday.

Here is a recap of the day’s events:

Arizona Fall League

No games scheduled

Dominican winter league

Fernando Tatis– (1-5) Run, K, Error

The superstar shortstop made his second error (fielding) of the season on Friday. He is batting .286 on the year and has been batting leadoff for his Dominican team. On Wednesday, Tatis started off his winter league play with a homer in his first at-bat, proving that the thumb is fully healed.

Francisco Mejia– (3-4) 2B, RBI

Catcher Francisco Mejia recorded three hits on Friday and is now hitting .429 in his first two games in the D.R.

Franmil Reyes– (2-2) HR, 2B, 2 BB, 3 RBI, 2 Runs, Error

La Mole continues to be a beast as he is up to .452 in the D.R. this season. He smashed his third homer of the year on Friday and also doubled in the contest. Reyes did make his second error of the season in the game. The large outfielder still needs to improve his defensive game.

Franchy Cordero– (1-5) 2B, Run, K

Outfielder Franchy Cordero went 1-for-5 on Friday and is hitting .231 in his first handful of games in the Dominican. His elbow looks to be 100 percent as Cordero has been able to play the field for the Leones this winter.

Manuel Margot– (1-5)

Manuel Margot made his debut on Friday for the Toros del Este. This is the same team he played for last season in the D.R.

Venezuelan winter league

Edward Olivares– (1-2) 2B

Olivares only played half the game in Venezuela today. No report on why he left early, but the outfielder is hitting .340 on the tear in Venezuela. He has been playing every day and looks like he is turning into an offensive force.

Mexican winter league

Christian Villanueva– (1-3) 2B, 2 RBI, 2 BB, Run

Serving as the team’s DH, Villanueva went 1-for-3 with a double on Friday. He also walked twice in the contest and drove in two runs.

Gerardo Reyes– 1 IP, 2 H, BB, 2 K

The right-handed pitcher still has yet to allow a run in Mexico. He has been very impressive and could be added to the 40-man roster very soon.

(Yaquis de Obregon)

Tirso Ornelas– (0-1)

Pinch hitting and playing leftfield, Ornelas went 0-for-1 on the night. He has yet to record his first hit in Mexico this winter.

Puerto Rican winter league

Aldemar Burgos– (1-5) K

The right-handed-hitting outfielder went 1-for-5 on Friday and is now hitting .222 early on in Puerto Rico.

Australian winter league

Michael Gettys– (2-4) HR, 2 RBI, 2 Runs, SB

Padres outfield prospect Michael Gettys homered early Friday morning. He is hitting .375 for the Adelaide Bite in his first two games of the winter. He has been batting cleanup for the team and looks in great shape.

Kelvin Melean– (0-4) K

Young prospect Kelvin Melean was batting second and playing second base for the Canberra Cavalry. This is the same team that Buddy Reed, Lake Bachar, and Gabriel Arias played for last season in the ABL.

Justin Lopez– (2-4) 2B, Run, 2 K

Lopez is in Australia and playing for the Cavalry as well. The shortstop should excel in Australia as he further develops in the game of baseball.

Jarryd Dale– (0-2) BB, 2 K

Australian native Jarryd Dale played second base for the Melbourne Aces on Friday. He is surely a very happy prospect playing in front of his friends and family down under.
