Plenty of Padres players in action on Sunday.

Here is your recap of the day’s action:

Australian Baseball League

Justin Lopez– (0-4) 2 K

The infielder went 0-for-4 with two K’s on Sunday in the ABL. He is hitting .183 on the season in Australia.

Kelvin Melean– (1-3) HR, RBI, Run, BB, K, SB

Lopez’ teammate in the ABL is Melean who is hitting .212 for the Cavalry. Both young men are gaining experience in Australia playing against much older competition.

Michael Gettys– (0-3) BB, K

Gettys is down to .315 on the year after a 0-for-3 start on Sunday. He walked in the game and also struck out on the day.

Jarryd Dale– (1-4)

Dale has heated up a bit and is now at .140 for the year after a 1-for-4 game. The native Australian has been playing shortstop each day, but has struggled with the bat.

Mexican winter league

Esteban Quiroz– (3-3) HR, 3B, 2B, 3 RBI, 2 Run, BB

The little scrappy second baseman was a single shy of the cycle on Sunday. He is at .279 on the year and could be a factor for the team in 2019. Padres fans should take notice of this infielder.

Puerto Rican winter league

Aldemar Burgos– (1-4) SB

The outfielder is at .250 on the year after a 1-for-4 effort in Puerto Rico. He stole a base and has a decent amount of upside. Burgos is a deep sleeper in an overcrowded Padres farm system.

Venezuelan winter league

Luis Torrens– (1-5) RBI

Torrens is hitting .322 on the year in Venezuela. He started the game at catcher and has played some first base too this year. Torrens is probably going to see time in Double-A this year and could be a factor for the major league team if they need a catcher.

Dominican winter league

Franchy Cordero– (0-2) 2 BB, K

Cordero is hitting .237 on the year after a 0-for-2 game on Sunday. The left-handed hitter is in a bit of a slump, but has been playing every day and is healthy.

Francisco Mejia– (2-5) 2 RBI

Catcher Francisco Mejia went 2-for-5 on Sunday and his average up to .246 on the year in the D.R.
