More roster moves for the San Diego Padres as the team has recalled right handed reliever Leonel Campos from Triple-A El Paso. With the promotion of Campos, the team elected to send down outfielder Alex Dickerson. The Poway High School product fared well in his promotion but is just simply a victim of a numbers crunch.

Currently the Padres have Matt Kemp, Jon Jay and Melvin Upton Jr. set as the teams starting three in the outfield. The Padres also have Travis Jankowski on the 25-man roster and with the promotion of Jose Pirela recently the team has another player who can play the corner outfield position.

Dickerson was sent down so the club could have another arm in the bullpen like Dennis Lin mentioned. You really do not know what you are going to get out of Rule-5 pitcher Luis Perdomo, so the team wisely brought up another pitcher as insurance.

A.J. Preller has been working the waiver wire. He has already claimed numerous players since the end of spring training. Say what you want about the young G.M. but he certainly is trying to cover all angles. You have to admire the man for his drive and determination.

This is the second stint this season for Campos with the Padres. He was called up in late April for a few days and posted a 135.00 ERA. No that is not a misprint. In one-third of an inning in San Francisco Campos was lit up. He gave up seven runs (five earned) on four hits.

Campos has great stuff but can sometimes be wild. His wild streaks can lead to walks or can lead to pitches right down the middle. He needs to work the corners and prove he belongs at this level. He is 28 and is no young prospect. The time is now for him to take advantage of the situation.
