In this week’s show we talk about some spring training news.

There are several competitions throughout camp for playing time and we break down each of them.

The infield and outfield battles will likely last all the way through March, as Andy Green will need ample time to judge each candidate for a roster spot. Franchy Cordero and Hunter Renfroe are in a battle for the left field job and there is no clear answer at the moment.

In the infield, Christian Villanueva has played so well that he deserves a shot. Chase Headley and Cory Spangenberg appear to be in a battle for a third base platoon with Villanueva, but there is no telling who will win the battle or what will happen.

Carlos Asuaje is leading the way at second, but Jose Pirela needs playing time and Spangenberg could also factor in at the position. Basically, there is a huge logjam in the outfield and infield for playing time, and something has to give. We speculate a little about the current roster and discuss what the future could hold.

We discuss the rotation for a bit, as Matt Strahm is an interesting person to talk about. His stuff is legit, but his knee is still a bit balky and the Padres do not seem likely to rush him. We speculate a little bit about who will make up the rotation and we also talk briefly about a possible six-man rotation.

The Padres have many youngsters on the verge of making the roster. We talk about some names to look for in the coming weeks.

In closing, we review some Twitter questions and vent a little bit about the Padres’ Radio situation.

Thank you for the listen. Please let us know if you have any questions, comments, or concerns.
