In this week’s show we discuss the newly released Baseball America Top-100 List and the MLB Hall of Fame.

Fernando Tatis (#9), Mackenzie Gore (#26), Michel Baez (#28), Luis Urias (#32), Cal Quantrill (#52), and Adrian Morejon (#66) made the BA list and we talk a little bit about each player. We also discuss some prospects that were possibly “snubbed”, as the Padres’ farm system surely had some more players that were in the conversation when formulating the list.

The Padres are so deep in prospects that they will likely be featured on this list for the next few years. That is a good thing.

Patrick and I speculate on how many prospects will make this list in 12 months. It is exciting to think about this for the 2019 season.

The next topic of discussion is the Major League Hall of Fame and the voting that is currently taking place.

We discuss the PED era and talk about Barry Bonds, Roger Clemens, Manny Ramirez and others that were linked to usage. Jeff Kent, Fred McGriff and Larry Walker are each dissected in great length by us, as we debate their candidacy to the hall.

Jim Thome, Vladimir Guerrero, and Chipper Jones are all virtually guaranteed to get in with Edgar Martinez and Trevor Hoffman very close to getting that call. The rest of the candidates are debatable, and this conversation could have gone on for hours.

There is some recent Padre news, as the team signed Allen Craig to a minor league deal. The former Cardinal will compete for a roster spot in the spring, but is no guarantee to make the team. This pickup is just a reminder of how slow this offseason has been. It has to pick up at some point.

Thank you for the listen and let us know if you have any questions or concerns.

Thank you.

  1. For those who support Edgar Martinez, if he doesn’t make it note that PED voters vote for him at a low rate, and published voting allows for strategic voting.

For Schilling supporters, it must be maddening. Like teachers told to fail a solid A- student because said student was a loudmouth and maybe bully but give scholarships and awards, valedictorian honours, to two plagiarists and exam cheats because “it’s only suspected they cheated.” By the teachers, of course.

For those who support PED users, make sure to vociferously support Russian athletes, Lance Armstrong, Marion Jones, in their attempts to reclaim glory. Don’t be a loser, if you defend “suspected” PED users don’t lie and say one suspect (A Russian sprinter, for example) who never failed a test is somehow a cheater but a baseball player who was caught with steroids, caught taking steroid products from BALCO, is a sweetheart, unfairly “punished” (punished with hundreds of millions ij salary and multiple awards), and someone you want all athletes to emulate.
