The Padres EVT Podcast returns with a guest, as we welcome one of the best Padres writers to the show.

Dustin is well-known around Padreland as Sac Bunt Dustin. His recently launched newsletter is the talk of Padres Twitter. Dustin brings terrific insight to the team and he writes daily pieces about the Padres and other topics. One thing is regurgitating fact after fact about the team, but to put it on paper deserves praise.

The three of us first discuss his newsletter as Patrick and I share some of our favorite topics.

We then move into the state of the Padres. We first discuss the 2017 season, as we get Dustin’s opinion on how it went. We are all in agreement on the development of the team and the direction it is going.

The 2018 season looks to be another long one. The team recently announced their promotional schedule. We discuss the schedule for a bit.

The minor league system is the most discussed topic about the team. We talk to Dustin about the farm system, as the three of us break down my top-100 list for a while. We then transition into each one of our top-5 players currently in the Padres system. This was a fun topic.

Dustin gives us a pitcher to look out for as we all discuss some lower-tiered players.

We end with some rapid fire questions in which we talk about Alex Dickerson and Jose Pirela in left.

Dustin gives us his thoughts on the third base job moving forward and we also talk a little trade. Will Solarte and Hand be dealt? We ask Dustin and he gives us his thoughts on each player. The trade talk will heat up soon.

This was a great show, but we ran a little over in time. Apologies. Dustin was a great guest and we enjoyed our time with him. Thank you for your time.

  1. Great listen guys! As Sac Bunt said, “this system is so good, you don’t even feel like a homer talking about it so highly” and that doesn’t even include who they get for a Hand, (I would put him being dealt at 75% myself). Then of course the draft, someone really good is going to fall to them at 7. Keep up the good work and keep the podcasts coming guys, thank you. As you closed out James, Go Padres!
