Padres EVT Podcast: Episode 21 with A.J. Cassavell
For the 2oth episode of the Padres EVT Podcast, we welcome back A.J. Cassavell of MLB.com. He is the San Diego Padres beat writer for the site and is in his first season covering the team for Major League Baseball.
We ask A.J. about a few injured players and he gives us an update on Cory Spangenberg, Alexi Amarista and Yangervis Solarte. All three infielders have started baseball related activities and should be back with the team shortly. Amarista was only called up from Triple-A due to injuries so it will be interesting to see what the club does with him.
Colin Rea‘s gem on Thursday night was discussed. The pitcher took a no-hitter into the seventh and many around the ballpark felt like it was going to be a special night. A single through a shifted infield was the first hit and we ask A.J. his thoughts on the infield shift in such important moments in a game. Interesting thoughts are provided by us all.
This is A.J.’s first season working the beat and we ask if he has any interesting stories so far to tell. His trip to Coors Field earlier this year was his first to that particular ballpark and we ask him his thoughts on the downtown Denver attraction.
