The San Diego Padres EVT Podcast brings you ZiPS creator Dan Szymborski of Fangraphs for the 119th episode.

Happy Holliday from the EVT family.

In the 119th episode of the show, the guys speak to Dan Szymborski of Fangraphs, who is the creator of the ZiPS projections.

These predictions are highly-regarded in the baseball industry, and the Padres list just came out a few days ago. At the beginning of the pod, Dan gives you an idea of how the ZiPS projections are gathered. No better person to explain the process than the man himself.

Dan graciously spends some time talking about several players on the Padres’ Major League roster. Manny Machado, Tommy Pham, and Drew Pomeranz, among others, are talked about by the three baseball fans.

Eric Hosmer and his contract are discussed heavily as the Padres are starting to feel handicapped by the first baseman and the $102 million that is still owed to him. This is not a good situation for the Friars.

Dan spends some time telling us why he enjoys Fernando Tatis Jr. so much. (Don’t we all.) We talk about the Alex Rodriguez comparison that the ZiPS creator gave to the youngster. This is quite a compliment for the young infielder.

MacKenzie Gore and Luis Patino are broken down as are a few other minor leaguers.

We all give love to Travis Radke on this pod. The left-handed pitcher flies under the radar and will probably be an effective major league pitcher one day. If you don’t know who he is- shame on you.
