The San Diego Padres’ affiliates went 1-1 on Wednesday, with El Paso winning a close game over Round Rock for their 77th victory of the year.

Here is a breakdown of the action.

El Paso Chihuahuas (Won 3-2 vs. Round Rock) (77-60)

LF Taylor Kohlwey – 2-for-4, R, K

RF Brandon Dixon – 2-for-4, 2-run HR, K

SP Reiss Knehr – 4 IP, 2 H, 0 BB, 4 K’s

RP Moises Lugo – 1.1 IP, H, 0 BB, 3 K’s

El Paso held on to defeat Round Rock 3-2 in a tight game in which the Express scored a run in the ninth inning to cut the lead to one. El Paso took a 2-0 lead in the fifth inning thanks to a two-run home run by Brandon Dixon and never trailed in the game. Pitching ruled the night for El Paso, as they struck out nine Round Rock batters while walking only two.

San Antonio Missions (Lost 9-5 to Amarillo) (67-65)

SS Connor Hollis – 2-for-5, 2-run HR, 2 K’s

LF Tirso Ornelas – 2-for-5, HR, 2B, 3 RBI, K

3B Juan Fernandez – 2-for-4

RP Fred Schlichtholz – 1 IP, 0 R, 0 BB, 2 K’s

The San Antonio Missions lost a heartbreaker on Wednesday night after giving up five runs in the ninth inning. The Missions held the lead early, going up 3-0 after three innings and then allowing four runs in the fifth inning, which saw them fall behind 4-3. San Antonio then took back the lead thanks to a two-run double by Tirso Ornelas in the seventh inning. Unfortunately, that lead was erased with the big ninth inning by Amarillo, and the Missions could not overcome the deficit. The Sod Poodles won thanks to two big innings, and that was too much for the Missions to fight back from.
