Padres Down on the Farm: June 12 (France & Pirela Homer in El Paso/Bachar Pitches Well in Amarillo)
The Chihuahuas fought back from a deficit while Lake Bachar pitched the game of his season.
Also, while one player went down with an injury for El Paso, another continued his rehab assignment.
The minor league affiliates for the San Diego Padres went today.

El Paso Chihuahuas Won 10-9 (42-23 on the season)
It was a back-and-forth affair all night while pitching was simply tossed to the wayside, but the Chihuahuas came out on top in a game that featured four home runs from the home team. Franchy Cordero had one of those dingers but went down in serious pain with a leg injury. The extent of the injury is unknown for now, but it is another setback in the talented yet oft-injured outfielder. After falling behind in the fifth inning, El Paso roared back to take the lead in the sixth inning on a Luis Urias RBI double and a three-run jack by Ty France. While one player went down with an injury, another made his triumphant return as Jose Castillo continued his rehab assignment by striking out the side in his one inning of relief.

Amarillo Sod Poodles Won 4-1 (31-32 on the season)
A four-run fifth inning was all it took for the Amarillo Sod Poodles to capture their third win in the past five games. Paving the way for a victory was Lake Bachar, who had one of the best outings of his season, tossing seven innings of scoreless ball while striking out four batters. Getting the scoring started in the fifth inning was Taylor Kohlwey who dropped a bunt single for an RBI. Buddy Reed scored on an error while Ivan Castillo drove a run in via a sacrifice fly. Edward Olivares capped the rally off with a double to drive home Peter Van Gansen, making the score 4-0. Jean Cosme allowed a run before Kazuhisa Makita pitched a 1-2-3 ninth inning to record his first save.

Both a combination of untimely pitching and errors led to the Strom dropping back to .500 after a loss to the Quakes. The starter, Aaron Leasher, surrendered five runs on five hits while striking out seven in six innings while Will Headen coughed up four runs in just one inning of work, but a wild pitch and two errors meant that only one of those runs was earned. Luis Campusano continues to rake at the plate, raising his average to .314 with a 3-for-5 day, but he did commit two of the teams three errors. Franklin Van Gurp made his system debut as well, striking out two batters in a scoreless inning of relief.

After snapping a five-game losing streak, the TinCaps have rattled off back-to-back wins to begin the series with the Bowling Green Hot Rods. Sam Keating rebounded from a poor start by pitching seven innings of three-run ball. The seven innings was the longest Keating has gone in his minor league career and netted him the win. The game was tied at one run apiece until Juan Fernandez broke up the tie with an RBI single. He would come around to score on Jawuan Harris‘ third home run of the season, a three-run bomb that put Fort Wayne in the lead for good.

The Padres pitched a rare shutout in the Dominican Summer League thanks to the combined efforts of Mauricio Rodriguez, Ramiro Batista, and Nick Rios, who combined to strikeout fourteen Orioles. The Padres got all the runs they needed in the first inning as Charlis Aquino scored on a wild pitch while Euribiel Angeles hit a sacrifice fly to score Neifi Antunez, who had advanced to third on the wild pitch. The Padres scored one more time to pad the lead in the fifth inning after Victor Duarte got plunked by a pitch.
