The minor league affiliates for the San Diego Padres went 1-1 on Wednesday.

Below is a quick summary of the action.

El Paso Chihuahuas (Lost 9-5 to Sugar Land Space Cowboys) (45-35 on the season)

Luis Campusano: (2-for-5) RBI, 2 K

Eguy Rosario: (2-for-4) HR, RBI, R BB, K

Brett Sullivan: (2-for-5) R, 2B, K

Matt Waldron: 4.1 IP, 6 H, 8 ER, 4 BB, 2 K (88 pitches – 47 strikes) Loss

Two big offensive innings for Sugar Land were enough to gift them a big lead and hold it against El Paso’s late comeback attempt. The Chihuahuas got on the board in the third inning off a Taylor Kohlwey sacrifice fly and an RBI single by Campusano. The bottom of the inning, however, saw the first four Space Cowboys get on base by single, hit by pitch, and back-to-back doubles. Two more singles later in the inning brought home two more runs to bring five Space Cowboys across the plate.

San Antonio Missions (40-34 on the season)

The San Antonio Missions were off on Wednesday.

Fort Wayne TinCaps (29-47 on the season)

Fort Wayne’s match against the Lake County Captains was postponed due to inclement weather. Meanwhile, TinCaps center fielder Robert Hassell III was named to the 2022 MLB All-Star Futures Game.

Lake Elsinore Storm (Won 13-1 against the Visalia Rawhide) (47-30 on the season)

James Wood: (3-for-5) 5 RBI, 3 R, 2 2B, BB, K ,SB

Marcos Castanon: (2-for-3) HR, 3 RBI, 2 R, BB

Justin Farmer: (3-for-4) RBI, 3 R, 2 2B, 2 BB, K

Bodi Rascon: 5 IP, 3 H, ER, BB, 6 K (81 pitches – 58 strikes) Win

James Wood may not have more to prove in Lake Elsinore. After being sidelined for a right wrist injury, the top prospect has shown no signs of slowing since returning to the Storm. Wood got the scoring started for Lake Elsinore with a two-run double in the third inning, while his single in the fourth inning cleared the bases as part of a seven-run fourth. Today’s performance pushed his batting line to .325/.438/.579 as a member of the Storm. A call-up to Fort Wayne is certain to come by the end of the season.

DSL Padres (15-9 on the season)

The DSL Padres were off on Wednesday.
