Just as it is on most Mondays, the minor league affiliates of the San Diego Padres were off for travel days.

All four teams will be back in action Tuesday, with just Ryan Weathers for the El Paso Chihuahuas as the only scheduled starting pitcher. Both rookie ball teams played Monday, with them splitting their respective games. Griffin Doersching of the Lake Elsinore Storm got recognized for his last week’s performance as the Single-A Player of the Week after hitting six home runs.

Arizona Complex League Padres (Lost 6-5) (29-24)

Juan Murillo– 1-for-4, 1 R, 3 RBI, 1 K,

Eddy Beltre– 1-for-3, 1 R, 1 RBI, 1 BB, 1 K

Miguel Rondon– 4 IP, 2 H, 2 ER, 1 BB, 6 K

Walki Lezan– 1.1 IP, 2 H, 3 ER, 2 BB, 3 K

Five runs in the sixth inning were not enough for the ACL Padres in a loss to the ACL Giants. Miguel Rondon got off to a good start for the Padres, with three scoreless innings, but allowed two runs in his fourth and final innings to close his line after striking out six. Walki Lezan and Luis Acosta, the two relievers to follow, each allowed the Giants to score before Miguel Mendez, and Wilton Castillo threw scoreless frames to give the Padres a shot. Eddy Beltre got the scoring started for the Padres in the sixth with an RBI single. After Tyler Robertson scored on an error, Juan Murillo tied the game at five with a three-run home run. The Padres only scored in the sixth inning.

There are no scheduled pitchers for the ACL Padres contest on Tuesday against the ACL Mariners.

Dominican Summer League Padres (Won 6-3) (35-23)

Yendry Rojas– 2-for-4, 1 R

Oliver Carrillo– 2-for-3, 1 RBI, 2 R

Jhosep Chirinos– 3 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 4 BB, 5 K

Yariel Moreno– 3.2 IP, 6 H, 3 ER, 2 BB, 7 K

A strong start from Jhosep Chirinos and solid relief appearances to follow led to a 6-3 win for the DSL Padres. Jefren Tejeda threw a scoreless fourth inning to follow Chrinos’ three innings. Runs in the top of the fifth set up Tejeda for the win when Adrian Perez singled home a run and scored on a wild pitch. The Padres scored three more runs in the sixth inning to pull ahead 5-0, and they never looked back. The DSL Orioles tried to make things interesting against Yariel Moreno by scoring three runs in the sixth and seventh, but an Oliver Carillo home run extended the lead back to three.

There are no scheduled pitchers for the DSL Padres contest on Tuesday against the DSL Diamondbacks.
