Minor League Baseball began its season at the Triple-A level on Tuesday.
The San Diego Padres are hoping for better results out of its affiliates this season, and that started off with a resounding victory from the El Paso Chihuahuas.

El Paso added five more runs later in the game to solidify the win. Jesse Scholtens got the opening day start and dominated Round Rock. He allowed just two hits and a walk-in five scoreless frames that included five strikeouts. Grant Gavin looked sharp as the first Chihuahuas reliever, striking out five batters in two innings of work, but did allow a solo home run in the sixth inning.
There is no scheduled starter for the Chihuahuas on Wednesday against Round Rock.
