The sport of soccer is growing, and the city of San Diego is slowly falling in love with it.

The San Diego Wave FC is the newest professional sports franchise in the city of San Diego. The women’s professional soccer team is off to a great start in its inaugural season. There are plenty of stars on the team, and the franchise is doing so much for the city of San Diego.

Alex Morgan is a superstar in women’s soccer, and the forward provides instant credibility to the Wave. Morgan has accomplished much in the world of soccer, and she is a role model for young players in the sport. On Saturday, the forward broke out as she scored every goal in a 4-0 victory over Gotham FC.

This is the third time in WPSL history that a player has scored four times in a game. Morgan’s second and third goals of the night came on penalty kicks.

Gotham FC is an offensive team, and the Wave came into the match trying to strike the first blow. The Wave aggressively pushed the ball up the pitch, and that made their opponents uneasy.

Their game-plan was successful as Gotham defenders were on their heels early, and the offense just could not spark for New York in the match. The Wave was impressive in virtually every facet of the game the whole night. The defense stood up to a considerable test and was very successful in containing Gotham FC.

The NWSL expansion team played in front of a large crowd on Saturday, and the hope is that the fanbase will only continue to build as word spreads about this action-packed sport. San Diegans really need to support this young franchise.

The fourth goal was the icing on the cake for Morgan.

The Wave is 2-0 to start the season.

The next match is on Sunday, May 15, at USD against the Chicago Red Stars.
