San Antonio, Texas

After a tough loss on Wednesday, the San Antonio Missions looked to rebound with some home cooking.

The weather was rough in Texas, as rain was in the forecast for most of the night.

After a delay, the game was started as Jesse Scholtens took the rubber for San Antonio against the Drillers. The game did not start off well as Scholtens promptly gave up a solo homer to Gavin Lux to center field. He settled down after allowing a single in the inning to strike out two.

In the second, the Drilers added on as Mike Ahmed doubled in Cael Brockmeyer to make the score 2-0. The Missions responded in their half of the second as Michael Gettys singled in Hudson Potts to get San Antonio on the board. The score was 2-1 at this point, but that did not last long as Scholtens again surrendered a run to Tulsa. This time a single up the middle plated a run making it 3-1.

In the bottom half of the 3rd inning, Peter Van Gansen homered to right field to bring the Missions within a run at 3-2. That would be the closest the team would get to victory in the contest, as the Drillers pulled away in this one. Two costly runs in the seventh off of Travis Radke were the difference, as the lefty could not complete his second inning of relief.

A disappointing loss for the Missions in their final game as a Padre affiliate.

The final score was 5-2, as the Drillers with their first title in over two decades.

Michael Gettys– (2-3) RBI, SB
