The San Diego Padres are set to recall Michel Baez from Double-A to make his major league debut this week.

The 2019 season has seen many new players play for the San Diego Padres.

Fans have needed to keep up on the farm system to be aware of all the new men.

Michel Baez will be recalled by the team shortly, and the right-handed pitcher is someone exceptional. Standing 6-foot-8, Baez has an excellent physique for pitching. He has an overpowering fastball, and despite his height, the tall pitcher is able to repeat his mechanics pretty easily. Baez also throws a slider and a change.

His fellow Cuban, pitcher Adrian Morejon was recalled from Amarillo this week, and that should help create a comfort factor for each pitcher. They are good friends and will lean on each other heavily during this experience at the highest level of professional baseball.

The 22-year-old Baez has been used strictly out of the bullpen in 2019, though he does have the repertoire to pitch in the rotation if needed. That will probably not be in 2019 though, as he would need his arm to be stretched out properly first.

He has thrown in 15 games this season for Amarillo, going 3-2 with a 2.00 ERA and a 1.22 WHIP. Baez has struck out 38 batters in 27 innings while walking 11. He is described as a power pitcher with the ability to get a strikeout if needed.

With Baez in Chicago, the Padres will need to make two moves to clear roster space for him and Morejon. After the game on Saturday, it was announced that Morejon would make his major league debut on Sunday. The Padres will need to be creative to clear 40-man spots for each man. Stay tuned.
