A total of nine Padres’ minor league players played on Sunday.

The San Diego Padres have one of the largest representations of prospects in the winter leagues.

We do our best to keep you informed of what each of the 20-plus players are doing on a daily basis. Keep on checking back with us.

Whenever possible, we also include video. Today was a great day for that as we have three clips to whet your baseball appetite.

Here is what happened around the globe on Sunday, November 26, 2017 in the Padres’ farm system.

Mexican Baseball League

Fernando Perez was 0-4 with three strikeouts on Sunday. The infielder has been very productive this season as his average is still at .336 despite the bad game. Perez has played first, second, and third this season in Mexico.

Allen Cordoba has just started his winter league. The infielder/outfielder is hitting .316 after going 1-4 on Sunday with a strikeout. He has started all of his games in left field, so it remains to be seen if the Padres view him as a shortstop option for the future.

Cesar Vargas has been throwing really well in Mexico. His velocity is up. The right-hander has been clocked at 95-97 with his fastball, since he has been used as a reliever. He went a scoreless inning on Sunday, striking out a batter. His ERA is 3.69 on the year.

Venezuelan Baseball League

Trevor Frank went 0.2 inning, allowing one hit and one walk while striking out a batter. His ERA is 4.11 on the year.

Jose Ruiz threw a scoreless inning on Sunday, allowing a hit while striking out two batters. He has a 3.07 ERA on the year.

Dominican Baseball League

Webster Rivas was 0-3 and is hitting .091 on the year. The backstop is not much of a prospect and quite honestly he may have been released. I can’t find any info on his current contract status.

Franchy Cordero hit a long homer (video below) and was 2-5 with two RBI. He also struck out once. The outfielder is hitting .308 on the year and has shown improved plate discipline in a limited amount of at bats.

Australian Baseball League

Buddy Reed was 1-4 with a grand slam in the second inning (video below). He is hitting .222 on the year for the Canberra Cavalry.

Gabriel Arias went 0-3 with a walk and two strikeouts. He has been playing some very good defense (video below), but is a bit overmatched with the bat.
