A grand total of eight Padres minor league players were in action on Saturday.

Two games went in the books in the ABL. So that means plenty of at bats for Buddy Reed and Gabriel Arias.

Australian Baseball League

Buddy Reed went 3-8 combined in the two games with a double, two runs scored, two RBI, and a strikeout. The smooth-fielding center fielder is hitting .317 on the season for the Canberra Cavalry.

Gabriel Arias was 1-5 on Saturday with a run and two RBI. He also struck out once on the day. He is hitting .189 on the year. The 17-year-old has shown an excellent glove, but needs to improve on his hitting. He has a great future with the Padres.

Dominican Baseball League

Franchy Cordero was 0-5 with a walk and a strikeout on Saturday. He is hitting .307 on the year for his Dominican team.

Venezuelan Baseball League

Luis Torrens was the DH on Saturday for his Venezuelan team and went 1-4 with an RBI and a strikeout. He is hitting .291 on the year and has received plenty of at bats this winter.

Mexican Baseball League

Fernando Perez was 0-4 on Saturday as his average fell to .340 on the year. Perez has seen the majority of his playing time at second base recently. Perhaps the Padres are going to let him play that position moving forward.

Allen Cordoba was also 0-4, as he is hitting .286 on the year. Cordoba has played mostly left field for his Mexican team. Perhaps the experiment with Cordoba at shortstop is over.

Jabari Blash is playing ball in Mexico and he went 1-3 on Saturday with a home run. He also walked once and scored twice on the day. Blash is hitting .167 in only a handful of at bats.

Gerardo Reyes allowed one run on one hit in 0.1 innings pitched. He also walked a batter and his ERA is at 2.25 this season.
