The San Diego Padres affiliates were 3-3 on Thursday. The two AZL Rookie League teams were off.

Here is a recap of the day’s action.

El Paso Chihuahuas (42-38) Lost 12-4

The Chihuahuas eight-game win streak came to end on Thursday, as the team lost to Fresno in a big way. Colin Rea was roughed up in the contest, as was Chris Huffman (2.2 IP, 9 H, 6 ER, 2 BB) in relief. El Paso made two errors in the game and left 15 men on base which was not productive. Franmil Reyes had two of the teams seven hits on the night as he continues where he left off in Texas. Luis Urias continues to struggle with the bat, as his average is down to .264 on the year.

San Antonio Missions (46-31) Won 7-2

The Missions won their first game of the second half behind an impressive pitching performance from Miguel Diaz and Lake Bachar. Diaz has been slowly stretched out and could eventually be a factor for the Padres in 2018. San Antonio got plenty of offense, as the team earned 11 hits on the night. Matt Batten and Josh Naylor both got three hits and Kyle Overstreet went 2-for-4 with a run scored. Michael Gettys slammed his 11th homer of the season in the 6th inning for the Missions as he continues to warm up.

Lake Elsinore Storm (36-42) Lost 1-0

The Lake Elsinore Storm only managed two hits on Thursday as they lost to the Quakes 1-0. Ronald Bolanos was effective, but was the victim on absolutely no offense. The Storm recorded 12 strikeouts on the night and stranded 10 runners on the night. The team has a one-out rally going in the ninth, but were unable to get the tying or winning run across the plate. Only Brad Zunica and Edward Olivares were able to get a hit on the night as the team wrapped a four-game homestand.

Fort Wayne TinCaps (38-39) Won 5-4

The TinCaps have now won five in a row, as they beat the Captains 5-4 in 11 innings on Thursday. MacKenzie Gore started the game and was able to complete four innings. The talented left hander got up to 80 pitches on the day as he progresses in his blister health. Ben Sheckler earned the win pitching out of the pen and Evan Miller earned the save for the TinCaps. Jalen Washington hit his third home run of the year in the 8th inning for the TinCaps.

Tri-City Dust Devils (7-7) Lost 3-2

The Dust Devils have now lost four out of their last six games ,as they head home for a five-game home stand that starts on Friday. There are many young players on this squad worth checking out. On Thursday, the team lost a close one as Jonathan Guzman gave up a late run to Vancouver. Tri-City got two hits from 2018 draft picks’ Owen Miler and Michael Curry in the loss. There will be better days for this squad.

DSL Padres (15-8) Won 8-2

Left handed pitcher Jesus Gonzalez earned the win on Thursday after going five strong innings. The Venezuelan youngster just turned 17 a few weeks ago and is yet another example of how deep the Padres’ farm system is. The team in the DSL is off to a very hot start as the pitching staff, in particular, has been great. Vladimir Echavarria, Christian Heredia and Adrian Antunez all recorded multiple hits in an 8-2 victory over the DSL Reds on Thursday morning.
