The minor league affiliates for the San Diego Padres went 4-3 on Wednesday.

Here’s a recap of the day’s action.

El Paso Chihuahuas (46-40) Won 11-10 in 11 innings.

El Paso moves into first place by a game with the win. Luis Urias started at shortstop and had a big day as he reached base in five of his six plate appearances. Urias is 16-for-41 (.390) with eight walks and 11 runs scored over his last ten games. Franmil Reyes has recorded at least one hit in eleven of fourteen games since being optioned to Triple-A. Raffy Lopez struggled as he struck out in four of his five trips to the plate. Forrestt Allday has now has home runs in back to back games. Allday is 7-for-13 with six runs scored and four runs batted in over his last three games.

Lake Elsinore Storm (39-45) Won 3-2 in 11 innings.

Buddy Reed got the night off but appeared as a pinch runner and scored a run. Edward Olivares got the nod in center field. Olivares now has a 13-game hitting streak. Hudson Potts drove in the winning run with a single in the bottom of the 11th. Jorge Ona’s struggles continue and is now 4-for-34 (.118) in his last 10 games. He has walked three times with nine strikeouts in that time. Allen Cordoba is also 4-for-34 over his last 10 games but that comes with 18 strikeouts. Ronald Bolanos continues his hot streak. Over his last three starts, he has allowed three earned runs in 20.2 innings of work.

Fort Wayne TinCaps (42-41) Won 7-0

The TinCaps have climbed over .500 after struggling early in the season. MacKenzie Gore had his best outing as a professional, throwing six scoreless innings with six strikeouts. Since coming back from a blister issue, Gore has allowed zero earned runs in four of five outings. He has lowered his ERA from 10.13 to 4.15 in that time. Ben Sheckler and Fred Schlichtholz combined for three scoreless innings of relief. Jeisson Rosario had a rough day at the plate going 0-for-5 with a strikeout and a run scored. His on-base percentage still sits at .390 on the year. Robbie Podorsky is now sporting a .399 OBP with Fort Wayne after going 2-for-4. He also stole his 19th base on the year, he has been caught in five other tries. Podorsky now has multiple hits in five of his last seven games. Tirso Ornelas hit third and went 1-for-4. Luis Campusano was behind the plate and hit fourth. Campusano now has hits in seven of his last eight games and eight of his last ten. Estuery Ruiz went 1-for-2 with a walk and a run scored, he also struck out once. Ruiz currently has eight home runs and thirty stolen bases on the year after stealing two today, he’s been caught eight times. Justin Lopez hit his sixth home run on the year. Arias went 1-for-4 with an RBI and a strikeout. Jalen Washington hit ninth and played first base. He went 1-for-3 with a walk, a run scored, and an RBI. Washington currently owns a six-game hitting streak.

Aldemar Burgos hit his second home run of the season to extend his hitting streak to 15 games. He has recorded a hit in every game he has appeared in so far this year. Reinaldo Ilarraza recorded a hit and struck out once in four at bats. Grant Little stole his second base and has notched a hit in each of his four games as a professional. Mason House struggled as he struck out in three of his four at bats. Dan Dallas has allowed one earned run over 10.2 innings of work with Tri-City. Dallas has struck out 17 and walked four. Dwanya Williams-Sutton and Blake Hunt got the night off.

AZL Padres 1 (5-8) Lost 5-4

After five years in the organization as a corner infielder, Carlos Belen appears to be transitioning to the mound. He has now made six appearances as a pitcher this year after not making a single appearance before 2018. He pitched in two games in April but has appeared in 4 games since June 22nd. Over his six innings of work he has struck out six and allowed four hits while walking five batters. Ruddy Giron’s modest five-game hitting streak came to an end with an 0-for-4 effort. Nick Gatewood, 2018 11th round pick, is 6-for-13 with two walks and three strikeouts over his last three games. Juwuan Harris, 2018 7th round, has gone 0-for-10 with five walks and four strikeouts over his last three games. Rainer Aguilar, 2018 33rd round, made his professional debut and went 0-for-3 while suiting up behind the plate. He drove in a run with a sac fly, walked once, and struck out twice.

Michell Miliano had his best outing of this season so far. He allowed nine earned runs over five innings in his first two starts.

Luis Paez has played mostly second base, but started in left field and went 0-for-4 with two walks for the DSL Padres. Paez owns a .358 on-base percentage and has reached base in eight of his last nine games. Bryan Torres played second base and recorded two hits after going without one in his last four games. Yeison Santana had a huge day at the plate, reaching base in five of six plate appearances. In his last three games Santana is 6-for-11 with five walks. He now owns a .405 OBP on the season. Matias Polanco s 6-for-9 over his last two games. Jorge Leo has yet to give up an earned run or a walk over 12.1 innings of work. He has struck out twelve and given up six hits.
