Both the DSL and ACL Padres saw their games get canceled, while the El Paso Chihuahuas were the victors in a game that saw 23 total runs cross the plate.

Here is a recap of the day’s events.

El Paso Chihuahuas Won 12-11 (36-51 on the season)

Luis Campusano: 2-for-5, HR, 2 R, 2 RBI, K

Matt Batten: 3-for-5, 3 R, 2 RBI, 2B, BB

Ivan Castillo: 4-for-5, R, 2 RBI, SB

Jose Azocar: 2-for-4, 2 R, 2 RBI, 3B,

James Norwood: IP, 2 H, 3 ER, 3 R, 2 BB, K (Win)

For just a moment, it seemed like the El Paso Chihuahuas were going to blow an 8-3 lead in the top of the seventh inning.

Five runs scored off of the rehabbing Nick Ramirez, who didn’t record an out in the inning before being yanked out of the game for Norwood. He fared little better, allowing three more runs to cross home before striking out Andrew Young to stop the bleeding.

However, El Paso had one last rally left in them after scoring multiple runs in the first, second, and fifth innings. Back-to-back singles to lead off the inning were followed by a Jurickson Profar walk, with Batten drawing another walk to bridge the gap. A strikeout was followed by a walk, which was followed by another strikeout to bring up Castillo with two outs.

His two-run single to right field pushed the Chihuahuas back on top for good as Parker Merkel pitched the final two innings to earn his first save of the season.
