Wil Myers has been red-hot at the plate, and it continued on Sunday.

The outfielder has always battered Rockie’ pitching in his career. He has a career 1.021 OPS against Colorado. Myers played a massive part in the Padres 2-1 10th inning win as he drove in Manny Machado on a line-drive single with one out in the 10th. The right-handed hitter went 3-for-5 on the day and has his OPS up to .748 on the season.

San Diego salvaged their series with the Rockies in the victory, but the team is still not clicking on all cylinders. Myers heating up is a positive thing for the team, though.

Eric Lauer threw well against Colorado, going six innings and allowing one earned run with four strikeouts. He has a 4.41 ERA on the season after his 80-pitch effort on Sunday. The Rockies had been a team he has suffered against, but he was able to put in a solid effort in the game.

The Padres bullpen threw four shutout innings in the win. They are starting to be a more consistent unit.

Four different pitchers threw perfect frames for the Friars. David Bednar continues to look well with his splitfinger fastball. He threw one inning and struck out two in the game. Matt Strahm relieved Bednar and continued his dominance out of the pen. He has a 1-0 record with a 1.56 ERA in the last 15 games.

Kirby Yates was called upon in a non-save situation and performed well. The closer struck out two in the game and now has a 1.25 ERA on the season. Craig Stammen earned the win after throwing the 1oth inning for San Diego. He has an incredible 8-7 record on the season.

The Padres will welcome the Chicago Cubs to town for a four-game set which starts on Monday.

7:10 game time for game 1. Cal Quantrill will go for the Padres. Kyle Hendricks will toe the rubber for Chicago.
