The schedule for the Liga MX 2019 Clausura tournament was released this Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2018.

The new top-tier Mexican football season is set to kick off on Friday, Jan. 4, 2019.

The Tijuana Xolos will begin their new campaign on Saturday, Jan.5, 2019, away from home at the Estadio Akron in Guadalajara against Chivas.

The Aztec Canines were able to defeat Chivas in their home-opener this past season by a score of 2-1, but this could be a more complicated task away from home. The Border City Dogs will then have a tough home-opener against Tigres UANL on Jan. 12, but do have a relatively favorable home schedule for the 2019 Clausura.

Club Tijuana will host Tigres UANL, Monterrey, Toluca and current champions Club America at the Estadio Caliente, which are all teams that made the playoffs. However, the Xoloitzcuintles will still have some tough away games against teams like Cruz Azul, Santos Laguna, Pumas UNAM and Queretaro.

The Xolos only won one game on the road in the 2018 Apertura tournament and that is definitely something that new manager Oscar Pareja will need to work on. Club Tijuana is currently working towards improvement in the preseason training camp in Mazatlan, Sinaloa as the Prehistoric Dogs just played their first friendly match ahead of the new season.

The Aztec Canines defeated third-tier side Tecos UAG 1-0 and will also play affiliate team Dorados de Sinaloa this Friday, Dec. 21, 2018. Oscar Pareja’s team is then set to return home and host Leones Negros and Necaxa to conclude the preseason ahead of the 2019 Clausura campaign.
