Many minor league Padres players saw action in the Winter Leagues.

Here is a quick recap on who played and how they did:

Arizona Fall League

Buddy Reed: 2-4, 2B, R, K

Reed has gotten off to a hot start on the Arizona Fall League. After today’s showing, which included his seventh double, Reed is 13-for-37 and has a pristine .351 batting average. The outfielder scored on a two-run home run hit in the seventh inning by Keston Hiura and is showing the same promise that sent him to the MLB Futures Game.

Hudson Potts: 1-3, BB

While he isn’t tearing up the game like Reed is, Potts is still carving out a good tenure with Peoria. After getting a single and a walk in today’s game, Potts has now gone 10-for-41 with a .244 batting average along with a .326 OBP.

Austin Allen: 2-4, R, 2 K

Allen was consistent both at the plate and behind it. He had two singles in the game and scored a run in the sixth inning while throwing out two runners trying to steal a base. If Allen can improve on his catching skills in the AFL, he could be a significant force when he reaches the big leagues.

Mexican League

Gerardo Reyes: IP, K

Reyes has yet to allow a run in his time with the Yaquis de Obregon and continued to pitch scoreless baseball. He entered in the sixth inning with a runner on second and quickly mowed down the opposing hitters for a 1-2-3 inning and picking up a strikeout along the way.

Venezuelan League

Pedro Avila: 6 IP, 3 H, 5 K, 57 pitches-44 strikes

Avila went the distance in a game that finished early. and cruised through said game. Avila cut up the Tiburones while piling up five strikeouts. If he isn’t bumped up to Double-A Amarillo next season, he will most likely be back in Lake Elsinore.

Edward Olivares: 1-4, RBI, BB, 3 K

Olivares continues to try and plead his case for a 40-man roster spot in the Venezuelan League. Olivares drew a bases-loaded walk to tie the game in the top of the ninth inning. but it went to waste as the Cardenales rallied to walk-off as winners. Olivares also singled and struck out three times in the game.
