There are multiple reports that the San Diego Padres are indeed ready to make some moves. Jon Jay is the latest name to be rumored, as the Red Sox, Blue Jays and Royals all have interest in him. The Padres have the need to move outfielders with the depth they presently have in the minors so a deal could take place.

Hunter Renfroe and Alex Dickerson have been on fire in Triple-A El Paso, and they both seem more than ready to make the jump to the major league level. Dickerson was already recalled earlier this season and performed well for the Padres. Renfroe has yet to make his major league debut, but you have to think that he definitely will at some point this season. His emergence can no longer be ignored by A.J. Preller and the Padres.

The Padres are more than likely going to be very active on the trade market. Thankfully there have been multiple reports that the team has backed off talks of trading Wil Myers. The Padres were likely just gauging his value and were never going to move him unless they were absolutely blown away with an offer. In reality they would need a better offer from someone than Trea Turner and Joe Ross. That is the price the Padres paid for the services of Myers.

The team would love to move Melvin Upton Jr. or Matt Kemp but it appears Jay will be the first to be traded. It makes sense with his low salary and high production. Jay is also a left-handed bat and plays an excellent center field. His reputation in the club house also makes him very desirable to a contending team. If the Padres are truly serious about moving him, things could progress fairly quickly. Stay tuned Padres fans the future of the team will be decided in the next few weeks between trades and International Signings.
