Padres EVT Podcast: Episode 97 with James & Patrick

The San Diego Padres are playing better baseball. We first ponder if this is a result of scheduling or if the team has turned the corner.

We run down the major league team extensively in this pod as we discuss many things about the future of the Padres.

There are many questions surrounding the team as far as playing time. We delve into that slightly in the show.

The crowded outfield is one thing that we hit on, as the Padres have no clear answer of what to do. The emergence of Franmil Reyes further complicates the situation, as the outfielder has been fun to watch. I go into a little bit about Franmil as it is no secret that I love the big fella. He is impressive.

Hunter Renfroe is dissected as we get a question about him and Franmil and who we would rather see play.

We talk a little bit about the team and the possibility of trades coming. There will surely have to be a move or two, as the team has crowded situations at a couple of different positions. We take a guess about who could be possibly moved. No real surprises here.

We speak about the teenagers in Fort Wayne. More specifically we talk about Justin Lopez, Luis Almanzar and Gabriel Arias. The trio has struggled a bit with the bat and we get a Twitter question about them. Their recent struggles are nothing to be concerned about. Each youngster should progress in time.

Patrick hits me with some trivia on the current 25-man roster. The numbers may surprise you when you take a look at an analytical spin to them.

I hype a piece that will be out in a few days from Patrick Cusick. The article is about the struggles that Latin players face while playing in the minor leagues. He talks to several Storm players, including Adrian Morejon and tells an awesome story about how these young men struggle with things we take for granted. It’s a must read.
