Kyle Glaser joins us for our 22nd episode of the Padres EVT Podcast. He is a native San Diegan. Kyle was recently hired to provide content for Baseball America which is very nice accomplishment. Kyle is a BA prospects writer and assistant editor. He writes tons of quality content about the San Diego Padres and it is nice to see him recognized for his efforts.

The Lake Elsinore Storm are discussed as Kyle spends a lot of time there covering the team. He also covers several other teams in the California league so he has witnessed a ton of baseball in his young lifetime. Javier Guerra and Dinelson Lamet are brought up and we get Kyle’s impression of both young players. He has interesting things to say about Lamet. He speaks of the young mans poise and the fact he has matured this season.

Javier Guerra is discussed in depth as the young prospect has struggled to have any consistency with the bat this year. He has a ton of strike outs and has looked lost at the plate. Kyle has seen the youngster first hand and speaks about this young man. In Kyle’s estimation he needs to figure out the mental side of the game and improve his approach at the plate.

Andrew Cashner, Matt Kemp, James Shields and Derek Norris are discussed by the three of us. Kemp is an issue for the team and we ask Kyle’s opinion on his future with the team. Derek Norris is discussed in terms of his future with the team. The backstop is in an offensive funk and Kyle talks about Norris’ future in San Diego and the emergence of Christian Bethancourt.

Andrew Cashner and James Shields are a hot topic as each could very easily be pitching for another team next season. Cashner is in the last year of his contract and Shields has the ability to opt out after the year. In a very weak starting pitchers market next off season, each could very easily be top free agents. Cashner and his regression is something that Kyle speaks a lot about. Obviously he is also frustrated with the fact he has not taken his game to the next level.

We wish to thank Kyle for joining us and look forward to reading his content for Baseball America. Kyle is an outstanding young writer and a native San Diegan. He provides an excellent interview. Enjoy and as always let us know if you have any question or concerns.
