Episode #121 of the San Diego Padres EVT Podcast with Jeff Paternostro of Baseball Prospectus.

In the latest edition of the Padres EVT Podcast, we bring you Jeff Paternostro of Baseball Prospectus.

The guys speak to Jeff fresh off BP’s latest Top 101 Prospects list, which was released in late January.

There was much to discuss in regard to the system as the San Diego Padres landed seven men on the list.

The three go over MacKenzie Gore #5, Luis Patino #15, CJ Abrams #33, Luis Campusano #67, Taylor Trammell #69, Adrian Morejon #75, and Gabriel Arias #94 who were among the honored to make this annual group. Jeff gives us some excellent stuff on how the list is formulated and how each player’s value was debated. It is fascinating seeing what goes into making this list.

The list is not all we talk about, as Jeff also gives us some thoughts on a few of the recent J2 signing by the Padres.

This winter, San Diego made two big trades, and Jeff weighs in on them as well and gives us his perspective on the deals. We discuss Luis Urias, Trent Grisham, Xavier Edwards, and Jake Cronenworth, who were the younger players involved in the two deals.

The group discusses Tirso Ornelas, Reggie Lawson, and a few other prospects, and a few of Jeff’s favorite prospects in the system get some love as well.

Thank you to Jeff for his time once again with us on the show. Check out the BP Top-101 list here.
