With a spot in NISA’s Fall Showcase Western Championship on the line, 1904 will face off against the LA Force on Nov 2nd at San Diego’s SDCCU stadium. San Diego will be playing the sixth match of their inaugural season on Saturday, after coming off two back-to-back away losses to conference-leading Cal United FC.

On October 2nd, San Diego was shut out 3-0 by Cal United. On October 20th, they increased their goal total but not the goal differential by falling to Cal United again with 4-1 defeat. 1904 has only earned six points in its premier campaign in NISA’s fall showcase season. After an opening loss, two home wins, and then two away losses, San Diego currently sits in third place on NISA’s western conference’s table.

1904’s starting goalkeeper Jean Antoine was injured in their last home match during the 4-3 victory over the Oakland Roots. Antoine sustained a pair of injuries that were expected to keep him out of action for the rest of the season’s schedule. In a turn of good fortune, Antoine was cleared by the team’s medical staff to make an early return and will be available for 1904’s manager Alex Gontran in their home match on Nov 2nd.

The LA Force is currently positioned in second place on NISA’s western conference table. They are coming off a 2-2 tie to Cal United on October 26th. On the season, they have two wins, one loss, and two draws. In the leagues opening weekend, the LA Force beat 1904 2-0 in Los Angeles. The two adversaries will face each other in a rematch that will prove to be pivotal in the conference’s final standings.

To stay in game shape, 1904 also played two friendlies in October and won both. On October 12th, 1904 played against Tijuana’s Xolos U-20 team at Estadio Caliente and earned a 4-2 result. On October 27th, San Diego faced off against Temecula FC from the National Pro Soccer League and showed off their offensive prowess with a 7-1 victory. Moe Espinoza exemplified his knack for scoring with a total of four goals in the two friendly matches.

With two wins and three losses on the Fall Showcase season, 1904 will have an opportunity to qualify for the NISA western final. The Western Conference final will be held on November 16th. In their upcoming fixture, 1904 will match up against the LA Force, which has eight points and sits just behind Cal United on the table compared to 1904’s six points and third position. With a weekend victory over Los Angeles, San Diego would have enough points to move past LA Force and earn a spot in their conference championship.

1904 FC is hoping for a loud crowd on November 2nd at SDCCU Stadium against the LA Force. With a trip to the championship up for grabs, the support of San Diego’s fanatics would go a long way to tipping the momentum in their team’s direction.
