The San Diego Padres failed to make any noise apart from a walk from Tommy Pham in the top of the first inning.

The game started a bit rough for Padres projected fourth starter, Joey Lucchesi.

The D-Backs started the scoring with a single, walk, single, walk, double, and a walk before Pavin Smith grounded into a double play that withheld the bleeding. Lucchesi then walked Trayce Thompson before Matt Strahm relieved him, getting Ben DeLuzio to fly out to end the premiere inning.

In the top of the 4th, the Friars received a spark in the form of a Ty France two-run shot, driving in Josh Naylor.

The Padres scored another two runs of a behemoth of a blast by Frenchy Cordero and an RBI single by Tommy Pham driving in Francisco Mejia.

Lake Bachar couldn’t keep the game tied for the Friars. In the bottom of the 5th inning, he gave up a home run, groundout, single, double, triple, and a double before getting out of the inning with two line drives. The right-hander gave up four runs in total on the day. In the bottom of the 7th, Jordan Guerrero replaced Evan Miller. The right-hander hit Corbin Carrol and balked him to second, then walked Seth Beer and Nick Ahmed before being replaced by Brady Feigl. Carrol scored on a wild pitch, and Feigl walked Drew Ellis before ending the drawn-out inning on a popout, limiting a potentially explosive inning to just one run.

While the Padres came up short once again in the top, the D-backs scratched across another run in the bottom of the inning off an RBI single by Wyatt Mathisen, driving in Eduardo Diaz. Though it was a little too late, the Padres drove in their final run in the game on a double by Seth Mejias-Brean.

The loss brings the Padres to 11-3 in the spring. They will take on the White Sox in Peoria at 1:10 p.m. on Sunday.
