There were a total of eight Padres minor league players participating in game action on Sunday.

The Arizona Fall League was on a break, so the Peoria Javelinas had the day off.

No play from Josh Naylor, Luis Urias, and company, as they regroup to start the second half of the season on Monday.

CARRIBEAN/MEXICAN/VENEZUELAN WINTER LEAGUES

Rafael Ortega went 0-3 with two walks and a run scored. He was also caught stealing on the day. In his first handful of games, the veteran minor leaguer is hitting .333 for his Venezuelan League team.

Fernando Perez was 2-5 on Sunday with a two-run homer. He has shown a decent bat at times, but needs to refine his approach. The Otay Ranch high school product will probably start in Lake Elsinore or San Antonio for the 2018 season.

Franchy Cordero has been playing well for his Dominican team and went 1-4 on Sunday with a triple and a strikeout. He is hitting .318 on the season, but has struck out 12 times in 48 at bats.

Luis Torrens went 2-2 on Sunday with a double, walk, and a RBI. The backstop is hitting .273 on the year so far.

Alberth Martinez had a successful day, as he went 2-4 with a run and RBI. He did strike out twice.

Eric Yardley has been flawless this winter and he continued his scoreless streak by throwing for one inning of relief on Sunday. Yardley has now gone 10 innings without allowing a run for his Venezuelan League team.

Gerardo Reyes lowered his ERA to 6.75 after throwing a scoreless inning on Sunday. The hard thrower has just logged in four innings so far as he got a late start to the season for his Mexican Winter League team, the Yaquis de Obregon.

Jose Ruiz only allowed a hit in one inning of relief and has lowered his ERA to 2.45 on the season.
