The San Diego Padres had a total of 11 prospects playing around the world on Tuesday in various winter leagues.

In Peoria, the Javelinas lost 11-4 to the Salt River Rafters. The team has a two-game lead over the Glendale Desert Dogs with only two games left on the schedule. Peoria will play the Scottsdale Scorpions Wednesday and Thursday, as they hope to advance to the Championship game on Saturday the 18th.

The Australian Baseball League is one day from starting as the Padres have four prospects “down under”. Buddy Reed, Gabriel Arias, Lake Bachar, and Felipe Blanco will all play for the Canberra Cavalry. The first game will be 12:30 a.m. Thursday morning, and you can watch the game on YouTube.

There is no longer a “Fernando Tatis watch” in the D.R., but there is still plenty to witness if you are a Friar fan. Franchy Cordero is playing everyday, as he further grows in the game he loves. Cordero has come a long way and has an opportunity to blossom in 2018.

PEORIA JAVELINAS

Javier Guerra got the start at short and was 0-2 with two walks, a run, and a strikeout on the day. Guerra continues to show improved plate discipline and flashes of brilliance with the glove. It will be interesting to see where he is placed in 2018 within the Padres’ system.

Luis Urias went 0-3 on Tuesday with a walk. He is hitting .300 on the season for the Javelinas.
