A total of six players were in action on Sunday for the team.

It was a rough day for Padres players, as the offense was a combined 2-19 with the bat.

Christian Bethancourt made his debut in the D.R. and his two hits were the only two knocks that Padre players were able to garner.

Lake Bachar continues to be impressive in Australia as the right hander lowered his ERA once again.

Here is a rundown of what you may have missed on Sunday.

Australian Baseball League

Buddy Reed was 0-2 on Sunday and is hitting .295 on the year. The fleet-footed center fielder has been showing some power this winter. He has always been able to play superior defense, but his offensive boosts are certainly something to be excited about.

Gabriel Arias went 0-4 and is down to .232 on the season for his Australian team. The 17-year-old has been very impressive this season despite his low average. He will likely start in Fort Wayne next year and could be a fast riser through the Padre system. Arias has an improving bat with developing power.

Lake Bachar threw 6.1 scoreless innings in Australia on Sunday, walking two and striking out four. He has a 1.00 ERA on the year and could be a prospect to keep an eye on moving forward. Bachar has a decent mix of pitches and is reportedly a very hard worker.

Venezuelan Winter League

Jose Pirela was 0-4 with a strikeout on Sunday. He received the start in left and is hitting .227 on the year. He continues to play exclusively in the outfield as Pirela has the greatest chance for major league service time out there. The Padres are stacked in the infield, but he could get plenty of at bats in left during the 2018 season.

Dominican Winter League

Franchy Cordero was 0-4 on Sunday, and is down to .331 on the year in the Dominican Republic. Cordero has all the tools to be a star in the league. His K rate is a bit troubling, but you cannot argue with his production with the bat. With a hot spring, Franchy could very well factor in the starting left field job for the Friars.

Christian Bethancourt played in his first winter league game and went 2-5 with a triple, two runs, three RBI’s and a strikeout. Bethancourt was behind the plate for his Dominican team. It is not clear if the Padres will have him remain as a pitcher or allow him to catch.
