Only the Amarillo Sod Poodles and the DSL Padres played today.

With El Paso, Lake Elsinore, and Fort Wayne off, the two remaining teams went 0-2 today.

Here is a quick recap of today’s action.

Amarillo Sod Poodles Lost 8-5 (28-27 on the season)

Fernando Tatis, Jr. began his long-awaited rehab assignment today for Amarillo as they took on the Frisco Roughriders. It was a back-and-forth affair for the first three innings as Frisco and Amarillo took turns taking the lead. Starter Kyle Lloyd was hit hard in five innings, allowing six runs on ten hits, including three home runs. Tatis scored the first run of the game for the Soddies as, after a walk and a stolen base, he scored on Ivan Castillo‘s ground-rule double.

Tatis had this to say to EVT after the game.

Owen Miller hit a solo home run in the top of the third inning to temporarily tie the game, but it was the last run the Sod Poodles scored. In his final at-bat, Tatis legged out an infield single to lead off the inning, but Amarillo couldn’t bring him around to score.

DSL Padres Lost 4-3 (0-2 on the season)

In their second game of the season, the DSL Padres couldn’t grab their first victory of the season. The DSL Diamondbacks 1 (Arizona deploys two teams in the Dominican Summer League) got all the runs they needed in the fourth inning. Frank Lopez uncorked a wild pitch to allow a run to score and then surrendered three runs on one hit as Jeferson Espinal cleared the bases with a three-run double. The Padres picked up three runs in the eighth inning on an RBI-single from Willmert Paula and a two-run double by Albert Fabian, but it wasn’t enough to get the win.

Albert Fabian: 1-for-2, 2 RBI, BB

Euribiel Angeles: 2-for-4, Run Scored, K, 2 SB

Jose Velez: 1-for-3, BB, 2 K
